The Chippewa National Forest plans to conduct a prescribed burn as early as today at the Cuba Hill impoundment.
According to a release, this is about 8 miles southeast of Cass Lake.
The 30-acre burn will help set back the brush encroachment that is creeping into the historically grassy impoundment and inhibit the number of cattails that are out-competing other vegetation.
The operation’s exact date depends on current and forecasted local weather conditions.
