Public input meeting Monday on rental code

The City of Bemidji is holding a public input meeting Monday on proposed amendments to the City’s Rental Code.

Amendments to the rental ordinance were discussed in several regular City Council meetings but were scrapped after two second readings.

Late last year, the council went through the beginning of the ordinance amendment process after an ad hoc rental committee revised the ordinance to address inspection issues, but conversations in chambers began to turn toward occupancy limits, such as possibly changing the current rules of one family or four unrelated adults to an occupancy limit based on the square footage of the unit.

The public input meeting Monday will begin at 5:30 p.m., with written comments accepted by City Clerk Michelle Miller.

An option to comment and view the meeting via WebEx will also be available.
