Public’s help sought after recent surge in overdoses

Narcotics investigators are seeking information from the public regarding a recent surge in drug overdoses in Beltrami, Cass and Hubbard County communities. In the Bemidji area alone, law enforcement has responded to 35 overdoses, including nine fatal overdoses, from the beginning of December through the end of January.

Agents and investigators with the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Red Lake, Leech Lake and White Earth Tribal police departments, and Beltrami, Cass and Hubbard County sheriff’s offices are working together to respond to overdoses and identify and arrest those who are selling the illicit drugs as well as their suppliers.

Investigators are asking the public to come forward with any information on drug sellers in the area or their suppliers. Tips can be provided to any of the investigating agencies or the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force at 218-333-8130 or enforcement/tfcontactus.aspx.

Any information sent to the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force is confidential and will be used for law enforcement purposes only.
