PUC upholding route permit, EIS and certificate of need for Line 3

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission is upholding the route permit, environmental impact statement and certificate of need for the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline project.

The PUC rejected petitions for re-consideration late last week from environmental groups and Minnesota tribes.

Jobs for Minnesotans in a statement said, “While Line 3 is still under the court appeal phase, we appreciate that this advancement in the process brings us closer to putting thousands of skilled tradespeople to work here at home in Minnesota.”

Winona LaDuke of Honor the Earth called the PUC “an embarrassment to Minnesota’s regulatory system,” and says her group and others will likely be appeal again.
