Red Lake man facing burglary charges

A Red Lake man was arrested for a Grygla-area burglary.

According to a release from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were advised of a burglary in progress around 9:46 Saturday night in Spruce Township, approximately 75 miles northwest of Bemidji.

Surveillance footage showed two people attempting to steal items, with a door to an outbuilding showing evidence of forced entry.

The property owner was notified of the event by the surveillance system and interrupted the burglary, and he provided photographs of the suspects to law enforcement.

A few hours later, a neighbor noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area, which was stopped by deputies.

The driver said he was called by one of the suspects for a ride.

Around 5 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies found 48-year-old Shawn Martin walking on Highway 89.
