Red Lake man pleads guilty to assault

MINNEAPOLIS– A Red Lake man pleaded guilty yesterday in the federal courts to assaulting a minor on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 28-year-old Timothy Lajeunesse returned to his home in the early morning hours of January 13, and went to sleep, but upon waking up he grabbed a minor girl sleeping in the home and attempted to strangle her, and also punched and kicked her.

The child sustained a large bruise on her forehead, smaller bruises on the rest of her body, and marks on her neck consistent with attempted strangulation. Lajeunesse is scheduled to appear for sentencing in February.
