Red Lake social worker appointed to mental health task force

A local social worker was appointed to the statewide Culturally Informed and Culturally Responsive Mental Health Task Force.

The announcement came from the office of Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan.

Martera “Tera” Nelson is a Lead Family Reunification Case Manager with Red Lake’s recently renamed family and children services office, Ombimindwaa Gidinawemaaganinaadog, or “Uplifting Our Relatives.”

Her term is effective starting Monday through Jan. 1, 2025.

The task force was authorized in the 2021 legislative session.
