Reminders ahead of Trump’s planned visit

During the Bemidji Airport Authority meeting Wednesday, participants discussed the upcoming presidential visit.

No parking will be allowed within the vicinity of the airport, and attendees will be shuttled in from a to-be-announced location.

Participants, after screening, will be given hand sanitizer, a mask and a bottle of water.

The Trump campaign will be supplying a stage, bleachers and bathroom facilities for the event.

Doors will open around 3 p.m. and the president is scheduled to speak around 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.

The Bemidji event appears to be the only campaign event President Trump will be attending that day.

For those who wish to view the presidential aircraft, the airport may not be the best location, and Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin says other viewing points throughout the city would be better.

Participants and protesters are reminded to avoid conflict to ensure this is a safe event, and to be mindful of the Governor’s executive orders requiring face masks or coverings and social distancing.

No firearms will be permitted inside the vicinity, even for permit-to-carry holders and off-duty licensed law enforcement officers.
