Scholarship in memory of Mark Fodness established for Bemidji students

The family and friends of Mark Fodness have established a new scholarship through the Northwest Minnesota Foundation.

According to a release, this scholarship is for Bemidji district students who are pursuing post-secondary education through a college or university.

Preference will be given to students who are majoring in education, exemplify leadership skills, or have participated in Upward Bound as a participant or mentor.

Mark Fodness, who passed away in November 2020, was recognized as the Minnesota Middle School Teacher of the Year in 1998, and was a member of the Minnesota Middle School Association, the Bemidji State Education Hall of Fame, and was a Golden Apple of Education award winner, in addition to the multitudes of his former students who hold him in the highest regard.

Applications for this scholarship will be accepted starting Feb. 1, more information is available at NWMF.org.
