Second degree murder charges pending for suspect now in custody

Antonio Parkhurst, the suspect in Monday night’s apparent homicide, is currently in custody in the Beltrami County jail after being wanted for almost two days.

According to Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin, the 18-year-old Parkhurst was apprehended yesterday within the city of Bemidji around 1:30 p.m. without incident.

The jail roster indicates booking was completed around 8:30 p.m.

Law enforcement responded the Sanford Bemidji Hospital Monday night around 10:30 for a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound.

Minutes later, law enforcement responded to the 1100 block of Minnesota Ave. NW and found a 20-year-old man dead.

Parkhurst is in custody with a second degree murder charge pending. The 17-year-old victim was reportedly treated for his injuries and released from the hospital.

The identity of the 20-year-old victim has not yet been released.
