The Minnesota Senate held a confirmation hearing of Commerce Commissioner Steve Kelley, whose job may be on the line as Senate Republicans are upset that the Walz administration mounted a court challenge against Enbridge’s Line 3 pipeline.
District 2 Senator Paul Utke said the pipeline would bring thousands of jobs to his district, which includes Hubbard and Clearwater counties.
Commissioner Kelley stated that Enbridge did not submit a long-range demand forecast for the oil products.
Opponents of the crude oil pipeline say the route violates treaties with the Anishinaabe, and is a danger to the Mississippi Headwaters.
