Shooting early this morning at Pine Ridge Apartments under investigation

The Bemidji Police Department is investigating a shooting at the Pine Ridge Apartments early this morning that left one man injured.

According to Police Chief Mike Mastin, officers responded to the area around 3:22 this morning, with callers reporting numerous gun shots in the area.

One caller reported he was shot and driving himself to the Sanford Bemidji Emergency Room.

The victim told officers he had driven his car into the parking lot and saw three males near a parked vehicle. As the victim approached, two of the males knelt down and the other began shooting through the victim’s windshield.

The victim then fled the scene while the suspect continued shooting. The victim was unable to give a description of the suspects.

Officers found broken glass in the parking lot and recovered numerous handgun shell casings.

Chief Mastin urges people in the 30th Street area to be cautious and aware of their surroundings. Residents are advised to park their cars in well-lit areas, to avoid walking alone, and to report all suspicious persons or activity to the Bemidji Police Department.

Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to contact the Bemidji Police Department. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through CrimeStoppers of Minnesota to possibly qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
