Situation Update for Friday, Jan. 8

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 2,387 new COVID-19 infections today and 48 new deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 431,944 and the death toll to 5,620.

Of all deaths, 3,605 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of all cases, 33,595 were health care workers.

Over 49,000 tests were completed yesterday, with over 5.852 million COVID tests completed.

To date, 409,727 COVID patients no longer need isolation.

One new death was reported in Cass County today, a resident in their early 90s.

MDH reported four new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, six new cases in Cass County, two new cases in Clearwater County, and four new cases in Hubbard County.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 2,981 cases and 44 deaths, Cass County has had 1,989 cases and 21 deaths, Clearwater County has had 674 cases and 14 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,432 cases and 37 deaths.
