Situation Update for Friday, July 31

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 779 new cases of COVID-19 and six newly reported deaths, bringing the state’s total to 54,463 cases and 1,600 deaths.

Of those deaths, 1,223 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 6,259 were health care workers.

Approximately 1,024,916 COVID-19 tests have been completed, with over 16,000 completed Thursday, July 30.

To date, 47,289 COVID patients no longer need to be isolated. As of today, 312 Minnesotans are hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms, with 151 of those in the IU.

MDH reported four new cases of COVID-19 in Beltrami County, total of 184; three new cases in Cass County; total of 54 with two deaths; two new cases in Hubbard County, total of 27; two new cases in Itasca County, total of 125 with 12 deaths; two new cases in Koochiching County; total of 68 with three deaths; and one new case in Mahnomen County; total of 22 with one death. All case totals are cumulative, meaning they do not factor in those who have been released from isolation.

According to Beltrami County Public Health Director Cynthia Borgen, the county is currently monitoring 40 active cases, with two of those cases hospitalized.

Gov. Tim Walz and state officials released guidelines for returning to school for the 2020-2021 school year. Beltrami County and Koochiching County are recommended to begin the school year with a hybrid model. More information is available here.
