Situation Update for Monday, Aug. 24

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 717 new cases of COVID-19 today, and four new COVID-related deaths, bringing the totals to 70,298 cases and 1,771 deaths.

Of those deaths, 1,313 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 7,789 were health care workers.

Over 1.386 million tests have been administered since late March, and over 1.067 million individuals have been tested.

On Sunday, Aug. 23, about 12,300 tests were completed between MDH and external laboratories.

To date, 63,059 COVID patients have been released from isolation.

ICU COVID hospitalizations appear to be on a slight downward trend, at 135 today, with 175 others in non-critical hospital settings.

MDH reported four new COVID cases in Beltrami County today, bringing the county’s cumulative total to 296 with one death.

Beltrami County Emergency Management’s update from Friday indicated that the county was monitoring 14 cases with no hospitalizations.

The age break-down of all cases July 1 through Aug. 21:

  • Age 0-4: 3 cases
  • Age 5-9: 5 cases
  • Age 10-14: 9 cases
  • Age 15-18: 20 cases
  • Age 19-24: 87 cases
  • Age 25-34: 43 cases
  • Age 35-44: 33 cases
  • Age 55-64: 27 cases
  • Age 65-74: 16 cases
  • Age 75+: 6 cases

MDH reported two new COVID cases in Cass County, bringing their total to 92 with three deaths; one new case in Hubbard County, total of 42 cases; three new cases in Itasca County, total of 166 with 12 deaths; and one new case in Roseau County, total of 64 cases.
