Situation Update for Monday, Dec. 21

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1,998 new COVID-19 infections today and 22 new deaths, bringing the case count to 399,311 and the death toll to 4,872.

Of all deaths, 3,160 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of all cases, 30,569 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.

Today’s data comes after 34,000 tests were completed, with over 5.232 million tests completed since late March.

To date, 373,301 Minnesotan COVID patients no longer need isolation.

According to MDH, 11 new cases were reported in Beltrami County today, eight new cases in Cass County, one new case in Clearwater County, and three new cases in Hubbard County today.

Forty-two new COVID-19 cases were reported in Beltrami County over the weekend.

On Friday, Beltrami Emergency Management reported the county was monitoring 147 cases, with ten of those needing hospitalization. Three more deaths due to COVID have bene recorded by Beltrami County, but this has not been recognized yet by MDH.

Over the weekend, 18 new COVID cases were reported in Cass County, five new cases and one new death in Clearwater County, and 24 new cases in Hubbard County.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 2,785 cases and 33 deaths (according to MDH), Cass County has had 1,853 cases and 17 deaths, Clearwater County has had 629 cases and 12 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,358 cases and 34 deaths.
