Situation Update for Monday, Jan. 18

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 980 new COVID-19 cases today and 12 new deaths, bringing the case total to 447,349 and the death toll to 5,939.

Of all deaths, 3,786 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of all cases, 34,894 were health care workers.

Today’s data comes after 21,000 tests were completed yesterday. Over 3.152 million Minnesotans have been tested so far, with over 6.173 million tests completed.

Over 429,000 COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH is reporting five new COVID cases in Beltrami County today, three new cases in Cass County and one new case in Hubbard County.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,099 cases and 47 deaths, Cass County has had 2,076 cases and 23 deaths, Clearwater County has had 685 cases and 14 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,492 cases and 38 deaths.

Case rate information, updated Jan. 14, shows decreases in these counties for the two-week period ending Jan. 2.

According to MDH, Beltrami County’s case rate per 10,000 people dropped about 10 points, to 29.71.

Cass County’s rate dropped about five points to 29.48, Clearwater County dropped about three points to 37.45, and Hubbard County’s rate dropped about 13 points to 24.93.
