Situation Update for Monday, July 13

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 499 new COVID-19 cases today, and two newly reported deaths attributed to the virus, bringing the state’s cumulative total to 42,772 cases and 1,504 deaths.

Of those deaths, 1,172 were residents in long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 4,104 were health care workers.

Approximately 768,989 COVID tests have been completed so far, with 11,776 completed over the last 24 hours.

To date, 37,199 patients with a confirmed COVID case no longer need to be isolated.

Minnesotans between the ages of 20 and 29 make up the largest share of positive COVID-19 cases, at 9,831 total since the first case was reported in Minnesota. The second highest share of positive COVID-19 cases are in the 30-39 age group, at 8,106.

A total of 4,424 COVID cases have required hospitalization, and today, 247 are hospitalized, with 114 of those in ICU, the lowest since April 25.

MDH reported two new cases of COVID-19 in Beltrami County today, bringing the county’s cumulative total to 55. Megan Heuer, Beltrami County’s Familly Health Director who is currently filling in for Public Health Director Cynthia Borgen, reported that nine new cases were confirmed since last Friday through this morning, and the county is currently monitoring 24 active cases. Most of those patients are self-isolating, Heuer said, but one is currently hospitalized.

MDH reported one new COVID case in Cass County, bringing their cumulative total to 20 with two deaths; two new cases in Clearwater County, bringing their cumulative total to 15; five new cases in Itasca County, bringing their cumulative total to 76 with 12 deaths; and one new case in Koochiching County, bringing their cumulative total to 22 with one death.

Hubbard County has had 10 cases, Lake of the Woods County still has no confirmed COVID cases, Mahnomen has had 13 cases with one death, and Roseau County has had 28 cases.
