Situation Update for Monday, March 8

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 473 new COVID-19 cases today and six new deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 490,483 and the death toll to 6,556.

Three of today’s deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities, bringing the total number of deaths in these types of facilities to 4,082.

Today’s data comes after over 36,000 tests were completed yesterday. Over 3.5 million have been tested for COVID-19, with nearly 7.6 million tests completed.

Nearly 477,000 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need isolation.

Gov. Tim Walz reported Saturday over one million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered, with almost 62 percent of those 65 and over receiving at least one dose, and over half of all educators and childcare providers in the state have received at least their first dose.

MDH reported four new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today and seven new cases in Cass County.

Beltrami Public Health reports they were monitoring 30 active cases of COVID-19 Friday.

Beltrami Public Health, Sanford Bemidji, and numerous local pharmacies are inviting anyone 65 and older to make an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,395 cases and 51 deaths, Cass County has had 2,221 cases and 24 deaths, Clearwater County has had 720 cases and 14 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,610 cases and 41 deaths.
