Situation Update for Monday, May 3

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1,105 new COVID-19 cases today and three new deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 580,340 and the death toll to 7,163.

None of today’s reported deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. There have been 4,370 deaths in these types of facilities.

Today’s data comes after around 20,000 tests were completed yesterday. More than 4 million people have been tested for COVID-19 with 9.3 million tests completed.

More than 559,000 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH reported seven new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, three new cases in Cass County and three new cases in Clearwater County.

Beltrami County Public Health reports they were monitoring 68 active cases of COVID-19, up 14 from their previous snapshot report. Also as of Friday, two county residents were hospitalized for COVID-19, down two from their last report.

According to state data, 51 percent of the county’s population over the age of 16 has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine, with nearly 16,000 county residents completing the series.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,854 cases and 58 deaths, Cass County has had 2,649 cases and 28 deaths, Clearwater County has had 849 cases and 16 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,817 cases and 41 deaths.
