Situation Update for Tuesday, Aug. 11

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 332 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 today and six new COVID-related deaths, bringing the state’s total positive cases to 61,839 and a death toll of 1,666.

Of those deaths, 1,251 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those positive cases, 6,903 were health care workers.

To date, approximately 946,030 people have been tested for COVID-19, with over 1.17 million tests administered. Over 55,000 patients no longer need to be isolated.

ICU hospitalizations dipped down slightly today, at 147, with 337 total hospitalizations as of today.

MDH reported two new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County, bringing the total to 244; one new case in Cass County, total of 74 with two deaths; and one new case in Hubbard County, total of 35 cases.

Beltrami County Public Health Director Cynthia Borgen reported that today, the county is monitoring 27 active cases and six hospitalizations. There are about 138 tests pending, all from yesterday and today, and turnaround for Sanford Health is currently about 48 hours.
