Situation Update for Tuesday, Aug. 4

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 606 new cases of COVID-19 today and four newly-reported deaths, bringing the state’s cumulative total to 57,162 cases and 1,620 deaths.

Of those deaths, 1,233 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 6,506 were health care workers.

Approximately 878,111 people have been tested and over 1 million tests have been completed, with just over 8,000 completed Monday, Aug. 3.

To date, 50,426 patients have recovered to the point they no longer need to be isolated.

Hospitalizations continue to increase slightly, with 328 patients hospitalized today and 159 of those in ICU wards across the state.

Beltrami County, according to MDH, has recorded 200 cases of COVID-19 as of today, with seven new cases added. MDH reported three new cases in Cass County, total of 62 cases with two deaths; four new cases in Hubbard County, total of 32 cases; two new cases in Itasca County, total of 134 with 12 deaths; and one new case in Mahnomen County, total of 24 with one death.
