Situation Update for Tuesday, June 9

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 307 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, and 20 newly reported deaths due to the viral disease, bringing the state’s cumulative total of cases to 28,523 and 1,217 deaths.

Of those deaths, 968 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities, and of those positive cases, 3,006 were health care workers.

To date, 360,991 have been tested for COVID-19, and 24,221 patients no longer need to be isolated.

By subtracting the patients no longer in isolation and the deaths from the cumulative total, that leaves 3,085 active cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Currently, there are 455 hospitalized as of today, and 199 of those are in ICU, a slight increase since yesterday.

Locally, one new case was reported by MDH in Itasca County, bringing their cumulative total to 57 cases and 11 deaths. Beltrami County is reported to have had 21 cases, Hubbard County has had five, Cass County has had 12 with two deaths, and Clearwater County has had three cases since the outbreak began.
