Situation Update for Tuesday, Sept. 8

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 387 new cases of COVID-19 today, and two new COVID-related deaths, bringing the state’s totals to 81,608 cases and 1,862 deaths.

Of those deaths, 1,361 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 8,880 were health care workers.

Over 1.616 million tests have been completed, and over 1.201 million people have been tested for COVID-19.

To date, 74,235 COVID patients have been released from isolation.

Over the long weekend, the number of COVID patients in ICU remained relatively steady, at 135 today, with 122 others hospitalized in non-critical settings.

Since Friday, MDH reported eight new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County, bringing the cumulative total to 337. Two more COVID-19 deaths were reported over the long weekend, bringing the county’s total to three deaths.

MDH reported three new cases in Cass County today, bringing their total to 112 cases and three deaths; five new cases in Itasca County, bringing their total to 222 cases and 13 deaths; and three new cases in Roseau County, total of 92 cases.
