Situation Update for Wednesday, April 21

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1,611 new cases of COVID-19 and 13 newly reported deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 560,450 and the death toll to 7,044.

Two of today’s reported deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. There have been 4,339 deaths in these types of facilities.

Today’s data comes after nearly 25,000 tests were completed yesterday. More than 3.9 million people have been tested for COVID in the state, with 8.9 million tests completed.

More than 537,000 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH is reporting nine new COVID cases in Beltrami County today, 15 new cases in Cass County, four new cases in Clearwater County and eight new cases in Hubbard County.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,754 cases and 57 deaths, Cass County has had 2,525 cases and 26 deaths, Clearwater County has had 785 cases and 14 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,744 cases and 41 deaths.
