Situation Update for Wednesday, April 28

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1,514 new COVID-19 cases today and 22 newly reported deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 572,025 and the death toll to 7,113.

Four of today’s deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. There have been 4,358 deaths in these types of facilities.

Today’s data comes after around 24,000 tests were completed yesterday. More than 4 million people have been tested for COVID-19, with 9.1 million tests completed.

Nearly 551,000 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH reported seven new cases in Beltrami County today, five new cases in Cass County, nine new cases in Clearwater County, and six new cases in Hubbard County.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,802 cases and 57 deaths, Cass County has had 2,596 cases and 26 deaths, Clearwater County has had 825 cases and 15 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,784 cases and 41 deaths.
