Situation Update for Wednesday, Aug. 12

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 470 newly-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 12 new COVID-related deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 62,303 and a death toll of 1,678.

Of those deaths, 1,260 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 6,963 were health care workers.

Approximately 952,785 people have been tested for COVID in the state, with over 1.18 million tests completed. Under 11,000 were completed yesterday, with just over 6,000 completed Monday.

To date, 55,855 COVID patients no longer need to be isolated.

ICU hospitalizations increased today to 154, compared to 147 yesterday. Other hospitalizations are at 181.

MDH reported five new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, bringing the total to 249; two new cases in Cass County, total of 76 with two deaths; one new case in Koochiching County, total of 80 cases with three deaths; and one new case in Roseau County, total of 53.

Beltrami Public Health’s Megan Heuer reported this morning that the county is currently monitoring 30 active COVID-19 cases, and four are currently hospitalized. Heuer notes that one of those hospitalizations is a Hubbard County case. As of this morning, 98 COVID tests were still pending.
