Situation Update for Wednesday, July 29

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 681 newly-confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, and nine newly reported deaths attributed to the viral disease, bringing the state’s cumulative total to 52,947 cases and 1,589 deaths.

Of those deaths, 1,216 were residents of long-term care of assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 6,108 were health care workers.

Approximately 993,091 tests have been completed so far, with about 13,500 completed yesterday on July 28. To date, 46,636 COVID-19 patients no longer need to be isolated.

COVID-19 patients in the ICU appear to be increasing. On Sunday, there were 115 COVID patients in ICU. Monday saw an increase to 126, by Tuesday at 138, and today, at 143.

MDH reported seven new cases of COVID-19 in Beltrami County today, bringing the total to 164; one new case in Cass County, total of 46 with two deaths; one new case in Hubbard County, total of 22; one new case in Itasca County, total of 122 with 12 deaths; and one new case in Koochiching County, total of 61 with three deaths.
