Situation Update for Wednesday, May 5

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1,267 new COVID-19 cases today and 17 newly reported deaths.

In total, there have been 582,576 COVID infections and 7,191 deaths.

Three of today’s reported deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. There have been 4,374 deaths in these types of facilities.

Today’s data comes after around 26,000 tests were completed yesterday.

More than 4 million people have been tested for COVID-19, with 9.3 million tests completed.

More than 562,000 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH is reporting 11 new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, nine new cases in Cass County, three new cases in Clearwater County, and five new cases in Hubbard County.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,9873 cases and 58 deaths, Cass County has had 2,655 cases and 28 deaths, Clearwater County has had 857 cases and 16 deaths and Hubbard County has had 1,833 cases and 41 deaths.
