Situation Update for Wednesday, Sept. 23

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 690 new cases of COVID-19 today and six new COVID deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 92,100 and a death toll of 1,985.

Of those deaths, 1,433 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 9,833 were health care workers.

Over 1.873 million COVID-19 tests have been completed, with over 10,000 tests completed Tuesday.

To date, 83,507 COVID patients no longer need to be isolated.

Over 300 patients across the state are hospitalized for COVID-19, with 148 in the ICU. Yesterday, there were 136 hospitalized in ICU wards.

MDH reported eight new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, bringing our total to 388 cases and five deaths.

Beltrami Public Health’s Megan Heuer reports the county is monitoring 36 active cases of COVID-19, with 355 tests pending as of this afternoon. Sanford Bemidji has five COVID-19 patients hospitalized, but only one of those is a Beltrami County case.

MDH also reported six new COVID-19 cases in Cass County, for a total of 142 with three deaths; three new cases in Hubbard County, total of 88 cases and one death; and seven new cases in Koochiching County, for a total of 117 cases and three deaths.

One new death was recorded in Itasca County today, a resident in their early 80s. Nine new cases were also added to Itasca’s case count, for a total of 299 with 14 deaths.
