St. Paul man convicted in drug crime, original tip indicated drugs were on their way to Leech Lake Reservation

The Leech Lake Tribal Police Department says 39-year-old Choua Vang was convicted of first-degree drug sales this week in Morrison County.

According to a release, Leech Lake investigators received a tip in Aug. 2020 that a man was bringing methamphetamine to the Leech Lake Reservation from St. Paul.

Agents were then able to communicate with Vang and purchased methamphetamine from him directly in Morrison County on Sept. 9, 2020.

Investigators were assisted by the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
