Stimulus checks will not need to be paid back next tax year

U.S. Senator Tina Smith says the Senate is still at work but the work is being done from the senators’ home states.

Smith reports that the stimulus deposits many are starting to receive this week are made possible with new money, not a loan that will have to be repaid next year.

Smith is working on legislation that would include more support for rural hospitals and small businesses amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
