A Bemidji man is facing charges for fleeing in a motor vehicle, possessing a firearm illegally and drug possession after a pursuit last week.
According to a release from Beltrami County Sheriff Ernie Beitel, on July 28, a deputy witnessed two reckless vehicles on the Beltrami Line Road, and a pursuit ensued when one of the vehicles fled at a high rate of speed.
The pursuit entered Hubbard County and ended at a rural Clearwater County address. The suspect vehicle stopped after becoming disabled in a logging area on the property. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended quickly.
Inside the vehicle, Deputy Kyle Nohre found a loaded 9 mm magazine, a small amount of methamphetamine and an off-road motorcycle later determined stolen.
The motorcycle was stolen from a Bemidji residence.
Nohre’s K-9 unit, Mac, found a 9 mm pistol near the vehicle, which was also determined to have been stolen from a Bemidji residence five days earlier.
The suspect, identified in the release as 31-year-old Billie Joe Large, was booked into the Beltrami County Jail.
