Teen killed by gunfire in rural Menahga

A 17-year-old Menahga boy is dead from a gunshot wound.

The Becker County Sheriff’s Office reported they responded to rural Menahga Friday morning on report of a juvenile that had been shot.

According to a release, emergency personnel from many area agencies responded to the scene, and the juvenile was pronounced dead by initial responders.

The victim was identified as 17-year-old Michael Robert Erickson of Menahga.

The case is under investigation by the Becker County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

The release says there is no threat to the public at this time.

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, Menahga Police Department, Sebeka Police Department, North Memorial Ambulance Service, Wolf Lake Fire and Wolf Lake Rescue assisted the Becker County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
