Three treated for injuries after incident in Becker County

Three people are being treated in the Fargo hospital after a Deer River man was driving through yards in Becker County’s village of Elbow Lake.

According to a release, 33-year-old Kevin Doerr of Deer River was driving through people’s yards Tuesday night at a high rate of speed. Two people, 30-year-old Derek Doerr of Deer River and 29-year-old Nakoya Vanwert of Waubun, were hit by Kevin Doerr when they tried to stop him.

The Becker County Sheriff’s Office says a group of people then started fighting, and one person was pinned under the car.

All three ultimately ended up being airlifted to the Fargo hospital, and the extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

The White Earth Tribal Police Department, Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force, White Earth Ambulance, Elbow-Tulaby Fire Department, Ogema Fire Department, Detroit Lakes Fire and Rescue, Carsonville Fire and Rescue and North Memorial Air Care all assisted at the scene in some part.

The incident remains under investigation.
