Toddler critically injured, several other injuries in Mahnomen County crash

A one-year-old girl received life threatening injuries and several others were injured in a crash in Mahnomen County Friday night.

According to the state patrol, a Chevy Venture Van was northbound on Highway 59, rounding a curve but crossed the centerline and collided with a Pontiac Grand Am, which was southbound rounding the same curve.

The van attempted to cut back into the northbound lane but both vehicles collided head on in the middle of the snowy and icy road.

The Pontiac driver, 33-year-old Adam Lian of Thief River Falls, was treated for his non-life threatening injuries at the Mahnomen Health Center, as did his passenger.

The Chevy Venture driver, 28-year-old Alexandria Brown of Ponsford, was also treated in Mahnomen, as did several of her passengers, but both one-year-old occupants had to be transported to the Fargo hospital, one with serious injuries.

The one-year-old girl is expected to survive.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
