Toddler shot in eye by BB gun, father arrested

The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 2-and-a-half-year-old boy was airlifted to the University of Minnesota after suffering a BB gun shot to the eye.

According to a release, the incident happened Monday, Feb. 10, and a deputy was at the local hospital on another matter when the mother brought the child in.

On Feb. 13, following an investigation, a search warrant was executed at a home in McGregor, where the child and his parents live.

Dale Preston, 38, of McGregor, was arraigned last Friday on multiple charges, including felony assault, felony child endangerment, felony store methamphetamine in the presence of the child, and multiple misdemeanors.

Bail was set at $75,000 with no conditions for Preston.
