Tribal flags up for discussion in tonight’s City Council Work Session

The Bemidji City Council will once again discuss displaying tribal flags at City Hall.

This has been a practice long in place in Beltrami County’s courts.

The last discussion was over a year ago in March 2021, and no formal action was taken.

The council members, according to a memo from City Manager Nate Mathews, are tasked with guiding staff on if the tribal flags will be placed somewhere in the city hall foyer or in council chambers, or if a process should be created for the displaying of other flags.
