Trump protests planned for Bemidji area

Two organized events are planned for Bemidji as President Donald J. Trump is expected to speak at Bemidji Aviation this evening at 6 p.m.

Downtown, Indivisible Bemidji plans to “hold the line” between Paul and Babe and the DFL building near 16th St. NW.

According to their agenda, the event will start at 2:30 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to go to the Paul and Babe statues around 2 p.m. to line up.

Masks are required for this event, and event marshals will be on hand to keep attendees safe. They can be identified by their yellow-green neon vests. Participants are also expected to maintain six feet of difference, in respect to social distancing guidelines.

Our Revolution Bemidji and several other grassroots organizations are planning a “Defend Our Democracy” rally in front of the Target parking lot.

According to an announcement, the group has permission to organize there, from both law enforcement and Target. Target is not taking sides on this issue.

This rally will begin at 2 p.m. with set-up, and an opening prayer will kick-off the event around 3:30 p.m.

  • Christian Taylor-Johnson, Our Revolution Bemidji
  • Nancy Beaulieu, Rock the Vote Native Style
  • Asin Eliza, a Native youth leader
  • Trahern Crews, MN Green Party Vice Chair
  • Dan Gannon, Bemidji Citizen
  • Key note speaker: Jeremiah Liend, DFL-endorsed candidate for Minnesota House 2A.

The event will also include other festivities, such as drums, dances, chants and an open mic period.
