Two-acre fire in Bemidji Tuesday afternoon

Two acres of wooded area in Bemidji were on fire yesterday.

According to the Bemidji Fire Department, crews were on the scene northwest of North Country Park around 2:03 p.m. Tuesday and immediately requested air resources from the DNR.

The fire, before the air suppression, was moving east due to the wind conditions.

Twenty Bemidji and DNR firefighters were on the scene for about five hours, with one firefighter injury reported.

The fire, still under investigation, is considered accidental and related to a homeless camp in the area.

The Bemidji Police Department and Bemidji Ambulance Service also assisted at the scene.
