Two behind bars after assault with a hand saw

Two are behind bars after an altercation involving a hand saw Monday night.

The Bemidji Police Department says officers responded to the 1700 block of Irvine Ave. NW around 11:10 p.m. after a report of possible gunfire and shouting.

A vehicle leaving the scene was stopped. Four people were in the car, with two saying they were assaulted by a 40-year-old Ponemah man with the saw.

One victim was transported to a Fargo trauma center for advanced care, while the other was treated at Sanford Bemidji.

The suspect, David James White, was arrested, as was a fellow occupant of the house for a felony warrant.

The Bemidji Police Department says there is no threat to the public and that the incident was isolated.
