Two members of the Bemidji High School Speech Team were top finishers at the 8AA section tournament last Friday and will head to the state tournament.
Amy Frenzel was the section champion in her category of Discussion.
Evelyn Cordts placed second at Extemporaneous Reading and will join Frenzel at the state tournament on April 22 at Eastview High School in Apple Valley.
Maya Lindquist in Original Oratory and Maggie Loxtercamp in Prose were close finishers at the section tournament, barely missing state qualifications.
Loxtercamp and Lindquist placed fourth in their respective categories.
Bemidji High School Speech Coach and Paul Bunyan Broadcasting’s own Tom Lucas was also named the 8AA coach of the year.
