Two injured in ATV crash near Bena

Two were injured in a serious ATV crash this past Sunday near Bena.

According to Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch, bystanders and off-duty nurses in the Chippewa National Forest south of Lake Winnibigoshish immediately rendered aid to the male and female, both 23 and from Alexandria.

They lost control of the ATV on a forest road, possibly due to a mechanical issue, and rolled over.

The man was airlifted to a Duluth hospital with serious injuries, and the woman was transported to a Bemidji hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
