Two killed in Pine River house fire

A man and woman were killed in a house fire in Pine River early Tuesday morning.

Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk says his office received the 911 call just after 2 a.m. from a rural Pine River address in Walden Township.

First responders arrived to the scene and found the home was fully engulfed in flames, with two adult occupants unaccounted for.

Their remains were located in a search of the residence.

Autopsies are scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office and the investigation continues with assistance from the State Fire Marshal.

Pine River Fire, Backus Fire, and North Memorial Ambulance assisted at the scene.
