USDA has grants and loans for affordable home repair

With colder months ahead, the USDA’s Rural Development Program reminds the community that grants and loans are available for single-family homeowners for repairs.

Known as the Section 504 Home Repair program, this provides very low-income homeowners to repair, improve, or modernize their homes.

The loans can be payable over 20 years at a fixed one percent interest rate.

Grants are available for elderly very-low-income homeowners

Additional funds were allocated to the program through the American Rescue Plan.

For a one-person to a four-member household in Beltrami County, the income limit is $37,250.

More information is available online, and the local USDA Rural Development Office can be reached at (218)751-1942 ext. 4.
