The Bemidji Blue Ox Marathon will be a virtual event this year.
According to a release, registered participants for the 2020 Marathon will be automatically entered into the virtual version of the race.
Race packets will be mailed or participants will be able to pick them up.
Sanford Health is a presenting sponsor of the marathon, and the organizers say that turning the event virtual is the “responsible action to take to keep everyone safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”
The release says that many expenditures related to the race are non-refundable, so the Blue Ox will continue to uphold its “no refund, no deferment” policy.
“We understand that many of you are well into your training. While it is no longer possible for us to hold our event live, we want to recognize, congratulate and applaud each one of you on the time and effort you have spent preparing.”
Virtual participants will receive a 2020 Blue Ox long-sleeve shirt, the 2020 finisher medal, a Sanford Health gift and swag from Blue Ox sponsors.
