Walker man sentenced for killing toddler niece

A Walker man was sentenced to nine years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to criminal vehicular homicide.

According to the criminal complaint,  Goose was working on his car’s brakes at his sister’s house in early May and the one-year-old was playing in the driveway.

The child’s mother and stepfather were inside getting ready to go to the store when Goose reportedly left, running over the child.

Witnesses say Goose left at a high-speed rate and backed into garbage and debris, damaging the Chevy Tahoe’s rear end.

Upon his apprehension, Goose blew a .123 and admitted to drinking before he went to his sister’s.

Goose’s license was revoked last December for a separate DWI incident.

Goose received credit for 131 days served in local custody and will serve the remainder of his sentence at the St. Cloud prison.
