White Earth Chairman wins re-election

The White Earth Reservation held their Primary Election Tuesday, after it was postponed from March.

Incumbent Chairman Michael Fairbanks won over 57 percent of the vote and is anticipated to be declared the winner, after the unofficial results are accepted this afternoon.

In White Earth District III, Eugene “Umsy” Tibbets won over 36 percent of the vote, and Cheryl “Annie” Jackson won about 15 percent, and these two candidates will move on to the General Election scheduled for August 18.


Larissa Donovan is the News Director for the stations of Paul Bunyan Broadcasting and has been, almost without interruption, since Election Day 2016. She covers events and issues in north central Minnesota, which include local government, crime, courts, education, environment and social issues. She studied communications at Bemidji State University and received her degree in 2018.
