White Earth flags at half-staff in honor of Kathy Goodwin

A former White Earth Tribal Council member passed away over the weekend.

The White Earth Reservation Business Council says Kathy Goodwin passed away quietly in her home last Saturday.

Goodwin represented White Earth’s District II from 2014 to 2021.

Prior to her elected service, she worked in various capacities, such as in Tribal Court and Public Safety.

Goodwin helped White Earth establish a DMV and begin exercising regulatory authority over motor vehicle registration and tribal license plates in the late 1990s.

“Kathy was the kind of leader who stood up for her people and exemplified true servant leadership,” said Chairman Michael Fairbanks.

White Earth Reservation flags will be flown at half staff in honor of Goodwin and her service to the White Earth Nation.
