White Earth, Mahnomen law enforcement assist in sex trafficking sting

By: News Director Larissa Donovan

MAHNOMEN– The White Earth Police Department and the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Tribes United Against Sex Trafficking, or TRUST, Task Force last Friday in an undercover sex trafficking operation that led to three arrests in Mahnomen.

During the operation, sex buyers communicated on several social media platforms with under cover agents who posed as sex trafficking victims. The suspects were arrested as they arrived at an arranged meeting place for an encounter.

The three cited were 46-year-old Steven Bergren of Lake Park, 35-year-old Shane Lehn of Rothsay, and 59-year-old Michael Skjerven of Thief River Falls.
